The Catholic faith is a journey into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. It is lived through prayer, worship and daily life. In the Church we receive God’s grace in the sacraments, listen to his word in Scripture and learn to love our neighbour in practical ways. Here at St Peter and the Winchester Martyrs we invite you to discover this faith with us and to find a home in our parish community.
Many people come to us with questions or a sense that God may be calling them to something new. Becoming a Catholic usually involves a time of preparation, prayer and learning with others. Our parish offers regular programmes that introduce the essentials of the Christian faith and help you to discern your next step. If you feel drawn to begin this journey, we would be delighted to walk with you.
You can meet a priest or a member of our parish team for an informal conversation. They can listen, answer questions and help you work out what your next step might be.
When you are ready, you can join one of our formation programmes. These offer teaching, discussion and prayer to prepare you for the journey of faith.
In time you may choose to be received into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation. This is a joyful moment that marks the beginning of a new life in faith.

Alpha is a short course that gives you space to explore the Christian faith and ask your questions in a relaxed setting. Each session includes a short film or talk and time for conversation in a small group.
